The advantage of purchasing a complete vehicle as opposed to purchasing certain major components such as engine, gear box or front cut from dismantlers here in Japan, is that there is no guarantee on the mileage of the components or on wether the component is in good working order. Japanese dismantlers adopt the same procedure as local dismantlers in your country, if the component is non functional it can be exchanged for another one or returned for refund. Naturally, when the component is on the other side of the world, this becomes a little difficult. Also, Japanese dismantles are aware of this and some will use this to their advantage in supply sub standard components.

Many overseas parts suppliers or dismantlers have woken up to the fact that this is a problem and to solve this problem they now purchase complete motor vehicles either damaged or non damaged from the Japanese Auction Network, the same place many Japanese parts suppliers/dismantlers obtain their stock from.
